Try to Build in Public

The Proof is in the pudding 🕵️🧾 #

Like most developers, I am overly confident that I can build a product that people use on my own; without having done it before. This is my latest attempt at it!

I've had other attempts, most of them never go public. I choose a set of tools, build something, get the POC running locally, and move on to the next thing. It's been a while since I try, so let's try again!

I'm hoping this time it'll be a little bit different.

404: Pudding not found 😱 #

I'm hoping to try a slightly different approach. Although the long term goal is to build something people can use, I will have more short term immediate goals.

The short term goals are:

  1. Find a stack I like
  2. Get comfortable iterating quickly with that stack
  3. Make it publicly accessible
  4. Write about it weekly

I don't... love these goals. Most are a bit unspecific and hard to measure. But I'm going to bias towards defining this for now, and polish how to measure them later. But I can try to define them a bit.

Let's see how long this lasts.

What's in your mind: #

I have an idea of something I want to build. But before I dream big, I'm trying out some smaller projects to see if I can write those first, and find something I like.

First project is a Time Budgetting app. Here is what I got so far:

Early app

Doesn't look like much, but it's letting play with some of the frontend setup stuff. We'll see how it works out.
